I remember the old poems that always started with “How I love you, let me count the ways…” As I reflect on the last month (and those preceding it), I am amazed at all the ways God has been demonstrating His great love for us. We have definitely had some major blessings. But I am reminded of each day, in the little things, how God continues to demonstrate His great love for us in everything. We are coming to the end of this school year in just a few months and God is absolutely so good. How has God been showing you this month in the little ways how much He loves you? I pray you will “count the ways” my friend!
Something Good is About to Happen
Last year about this time, we began to face one challenge or attack after another. In the struggles we felt God was going to do something big. And, if you know the story of last October, WOW, did God do something big. Well, again, this month we have been facing several attacks and challenges. Last Tuesday, I was accidently hit in the head very hard with a very big rock. I am ok, but just an inch lower and it could have killed me. Just a few days ago, Jaime, fell off a water tower trying to repair it for a missions team and could have been killed. Several other little challenges have surfaced over the last few weeks as well. All of this actually encourages me. I cannot wait to see what God is about to do. And I will for sure let you know when He does it!!
Nicaragua’s Independence Day was this month and it was so fun. PCA participated in the Palacaguina parade and it was a hit. We were the first Preschool to ever march with our own drumline and I played the bugle. In addition to being a blessing to play and march with the kids, I am told we had the first ever bugle in the city parade. That was pretty cool. I was also honored and privileged to be invited to the city leaders’ celebration and sit beside them during the presentations as well as join them leading another parade. What a blessing to be invited and honored to stand alongside these wonderful leaders of Palacaguina. God is good!
The school is doing well as we are close to finishing our first year. The new food program has been a huge success. Every day parents are taking, preparing and bringing back food for all of the children. What a blessing to be able to provide this and see the parents getting even more involved in the school. We have completed the installation of our first stairs and handicap ramp, installed 4 much needed doors and continue to work toward finishing the storage building. We have also started regular staff meetings and are working to reflect and improve upon what has happened this year. Next year is going to be even better than this one. I just know it!
One of the absolute highlights of this month was being invited to an event in Granada, Awakening. This was a 3 day event set aside for the Adventure in Missions hosting of multiple World Race Teams in Nicaragua. Two of these teams will be joining us in Palacaguina for the month of October. I cannot even begin to describe the blessing of hanging out with these wonderful servants and getting to hear their testimonies and what God has been doing in their lives along their Race. World Racers are young people (in their early 20s) who give 11 months of their live to serve across 11 countries. I am grateful for their heart to serve and for them serving here with us. I will say it again, God is good!!
Our World Race Team
Just yesterday I traveled with two World Race Teams who will be serving with us at PCA in Palacaguina the whole month of October. I cannot even begin to express what a blessing these 13 girls are and what a gift it has already been to have spent the last 3 days, talking, praying, worshipping and teaching with them at the Awakening Conference. We have a lot of work to do in October, and they are ready to help and serve. What a blessing to have them with us next month!
Also in September, we were blessed to have a ministry cookout for our teachers and other employees of 516Now. We hope this can be a quarterly event to just give thanks to God and honor those who are working each day in the school and in ministry to make it possible for us to Change A Generation and to reach the people of Palacaguina and surrounding communities with the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. They truly make the difference!
Several great updates this month: I was able to finish the roof around our home fixing the bug problem in the kids bathroom, yay for Lilly. A local pastor/carpenter built and completed much needed cabinets for our home, yay for Deborah. And during the long Independence Day weekend, the Lord blessed us with the opportunity to take a much needed family weekend trip to Leon, yay for all. It was a great time of refreshing our spirits and spending time together as a family. So important. If you have not had a time of reflection and family building time lately, I encourage you to have one soon. Bonus: and thanks to a wonderful friend who brought us sunscreen on her recent trip to visit us, none of the kids got severely burned, yay for Khristina!
PRAISE & PRAYER
God is so good! (yup, I said it again) We were blessed with meeting a huge need in new tires for our vehicle. I cannot tell you how much safer we feel driving now. Thank you God. We are grateful for new missionary friends we have made in Granada with Scott, Jen, Kristin and Nathan. These are fellow missionaries living in Granada that have a wonderful ministry REAP that is reaching out to the communities there.

We want to thank first and foremost God for all He has done and all He will do. We know this project is far greater than anything we could ever accomplish on our own and we are totally dependent upon God’s strength and grace. And a very close second, we want to thank all of you who pray for and love us with your support. Without you partnering with us to fulfill this calling God has placed on all of us, it would not be possible. Thank you for allowing God to use you mightily to make a lasting impact in the world.
